As the name of our village suggests, Ginzling and therefore our apartment is the ideal starting point for numerous mountain climbing tours.
There is something for everyone - easy strolls aswell as demanding hikes to the highest summits in the mountain nature park of the Zillertal Alps.
. According to the Alpine Club the Zillertal Alps can boast with 72 mountains with more than 3000m height.
For the majority of those mountain summits - Ginzling is the best starting point. Also the highest Mountain in the Zillertal-Valley, the Hochfeiler (3,509 m) can be summited from Ginzling. There are also around the imposing Ginzlinger mountains numerous farmed Alpine Club huts and various beautiful hut tours. Without having to descend into the valley, the popular Berliner Höhenweg (Berlin High Trail) leads in up to seven daily stages to the Tuxer Hauptkamm.
In recent years, the mountain village Ginzling has emerged into a small Mecca for climbers.
In incomparable Boulder squares and well-secured climbing routes climbers find all levels of difficulty.
The nature park via ferrata "Nasenwand" is located directly in the center (about 15 minutes on foot) of Ginzling.
The via ferrata offers 400 meters of altitude and a climbing length of approximately 500 meters. The difficulty level is consistently between C and D, in some cases even at E.
Climbing the entire via ferrata takes approximately 2-3 hours. This trail offers a fascinating view over the mountain village Ginzling and the surrounding peaks of the Zillertal Alps.
In climbing "Ewige Jagdgründe" (Eternal Hunting Grounds), which is reachable in about 15 minutes by car, there are over 100 routes from IV + to X.
You can climb on 5 up to 30 m high granite blocks. Those are well protected routes.
Also every cylist gets their money paid in Ginzling. There are numerous
Biking-tours which can be started directly from our property (e.g. the famous
storage-reservoir Schlegeis, the restaurant Innerböden or the snack-bar Oberböden).
In case this is not enough, you can go bike into different side valleys starting from Mayrhofen (Zillergrund, Stilluptal). There are also numerous mountain-bike-trails on the Action Mountain Penken. There are all kinds of different difficulties.
If you'd like it rather more relaxed, you can go along the idyllic Ziller-boardwalk (next to the river "Ziller"). The boardwalk reaches from Mayrhofen until the end of the Ziller Valley.
One of the most impressive sights in the Ziller Valley is the Schlegeis Reservoir in Ginzling,
which is easily reached from our apartment by car or bus (about 17 km).
The 13.3 km long Schlegeis-Alpenstraße leads over eight bends and four natural stone tunnels to the parking lots of the Schlegeis reservoir in approximately 1,800 meters above sea level. As you stay in Ginzling, you receive the the guest card (in the Naturpark Haus in Ginzling). With the guest card your toll is reduced (by half), this card also offers other bonuses. The 725 meter long and 131 meter high dam is definitely worth a visit.
The Schlegeis reservoir is the starting point for a walk along the reservoir aswell as to one of the numerous huts in the Schlegeis Mountain Area.
The scenery is breathtaking!
There is also the opportunity to explore the inner workings of the Schlegeis reservoir dam. The one-hour tour is available from June to October, starting every full hour from 10 am to 4 pm.
Rafting is possible on the Ziller, at Gerolsbach or at the Inn. The rafting offers an unique view of Zillertal-Valley landscape aswell as fun and excitement. With an experienced guide you paddle it through rapids and overcome the stately masses of water of the rivers
Tubing: With an experienced guide, white water equipment, a tube and white water - ADRENALINE for every visitor!
Canyoning (canyon hiking) offers plenty of action while rappelling over waterfalls and rocks along the gorge (between Mayrhofen and Ginzling)
